Delores was a fun neighbor in Stanley. She will be remembered as such a kind, elegant lady with a smile on her face and happy words to share. She lived across the fence from me when she was in Stanley. I missed her when she moved to Georgia.

When I was a young girl my Mother Marlyne would take my siblings and I to visit Aunt Delores in Stanley. We lived in Williston. Sometimes we would go for a visit and other times it was a place to keep us safe from domestic violence. Either way the door was always open and it became a 2nd home in my mind. I loved watching my older cousin Yvonne hula hoop and I remember when she began dating Bill. I use to look at my cousin Suzanne and think how beautiful she was and how I wanted to look like that when I got older. I use to giggle when she and Brian would argue, lol. We went to Yvonne and Bills wedding and Delores was all smiles that day. Aunt Delores never made us feel unwelcome. After my Mother died I made it a point to stay in touch with Delores and she told me one day that she really appreciated that. When I became engaged I made sure Delores met him. When I became pregnant with our first child we went to see Delores. I also made sure that she got to meet my daughters. When my oldest daughter met Delores she said "so you are the great Delores", and Delores replied "I duno what's so great about me but I am Delores", matter of fact just like she always was, lol. Suzanne cut my daughters hair just like she had mine many years before. They were always welcoming and she always had a smile and a place to stay if you needed it. She didn't sweat the small stuff and she could make a really scary time feel like a simple sleep over. I know that Delores is at peace now and I thank her for the moments she gave to everyone that made their lives better as well as for her kindness and acceptance. God bless and thank you to Yvonne, Suzanne and Brian as well for opening their home. <3

Delores was a great lady. Suzanne, do you remember “where’s the beef” with Delores and my Mom Jane. We had fun with that one. My sympathies to your family.

My sincere sympathy, thoughts and prayers. I have wonderful Stanley memories of Delores. She was a friend to everyone lucky enough to know her.
