Marion Harrelson, 76, of Bainville, MT, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Roosevelt Medical Center in Culbertson.

Marion Ardette Harrelson was born May 1, 1943 at Mercy Hospital in Williston, ND to Albert and Alice (Sundquist) Granley. She was raised on the farm north of Bainville, Mt. Being in charge of the chickens, was her daily job. She was always active and enjoyed riding horses and playing games with her family and friends. She attended Bainville School where she was active in band, other school activities and graduated with the Class of 1961.

After high school, Marion attended Trinity Hospital School of Nursing in Minot, ND. She graduated as a registered nurse in 1964. Starting in Evansville, IN, and later moving to Florida, Marion worked at numerous hospitals caring for those in need. Marion had a compassionate heart for all people and treated everyone as if they were her family.

After moving to Minot, ND, she met Charles Harrelson and they were married on June 8, 1967. They lived in Laurinburg, NC were she was employed at the Laurinburg NC hospital. In 1974 they moved back to Bainville, MT, for a brief time, then moving onto Laurel, MT where she was employed at Diocese Hospital. They moved to Livingston, MT where she worked at Livingston Memorial Hospital, while Charles worked with US West.

They moved back to Bainville, MT in 2001 to build a home for retirement and were also able to take care of Marion’s mother and father.

They spent their winters at their Yuma, AZ home, enjoying visiting with friends, playing golf, putting puzzles together and other activities.

Marion cherished the time she could spend with her family and friends, always kept up with her son’s lives and their activities. She loved to travel and visit her grandchildren. Marion never sat still and never wanted to miss an event that was going on. She enjoyed sewing, taking care of her garden and flowers and was always ready for a good game of cards. She attended First English Lutheran Church in Bainville, where she was very active in and with the Church activities.

Marion is survived by her husband, Charles Harrelson; sons, Michael (Tammy) Harrelson, Terry (Twyla) Harrelson, Alan (Jill) Harrelson and their families; sisters, Arlene Sellars and Joyce Schmid; brother, Dave Granley; grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Alice Granley; brother, Lloyd Granley.

Was saddened to hear of Marion's passing. Having grown up in the rural Bainville community and attended school there many of my siblings and I have known the Granley family as neighbors, friends and classmates.

I'm certain that she'll be missed but days of joy are coming soon...

I got to know Marion at the golf course. She was so friendly and helpful. She made you feel like you were having a good golf game when...you really weren't. We often discussed nursing..which was our calling and passion. God bless her memory and the whole family. 31476

Some of the greatest times we had as kids were with the Harrelson's while growing up in Laurel. In high school watching Terry and my brother compete against each other on the basketball court was always great fun. Sending prayers and hugs to you all. She will be dearly missed.
