It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Donald "Don" Stambaugh
January 21, 1938 - September 8, 2020

Place of Birth: Bingham, MI
Residence: Sidney, Montana
Age: 82

Don Stambaugh was born in his family home in Bingham, MI, on January 21st, 1938 to Adelbert and Murneta (Cranston) Stambaugh. He was the 2nd of five children born on the family farm in Michigan. Don graduated from high school in 1956. He attended college in Lansing, MI for two years where he acquired his engineering degree. During his 1st year of college he started dating his future wife, Deanna Wills.
Don and Deanna were married on May 10th, 1960. They lived in a log cabin and worked their farm in Ubly, MI. During that time they had four boys-Bruce, Orin, Bert, and Jeff. Don suddenly had a heart attack at the age of 28 years old. They sold the farm shortly after.
Over the years Don and his family lived in several states as he followed the oil field. Don was first diagnosed with cancer in 1976. He beat his cancer and went into remission. They lived in Sidney, MT in the early 1980’s during the oil boom there. In the mid 1980’s he started D And D Welding with his best friend Bob McGinnis.
When Don and Deanna returned to MI in the early 1990’s he opened D.O. Construction with his son Orin. Don built their log cabin home in MI at that time. He continued in the concrete business until 2004.
In 2005 Don moved back to Sidney, MT to work in the oil field. Deanna followed that year after Don was diagnosed with cancer again. And, again, he beat that cancer into remission. Don also built a log cabin home in Sidney with the help of his family between 2006-2009.
After he retired from the oil field in 2010 he returned to MI for a year to log some of his timber.
He began working for Border Steel & Recycling in 2011 in Sidney, where he worked until he passed away.
Don was diagnosed with cancer again in 2016. Over the last four years he fought his cancer with stubborn intensity.
Throughout his life Don was active in many organizations. He would give the shirt off his back to help anyone. He loved his family and considered many friends his family as well. If you knew Don, you knew he loved to talk and would tell you story after story of his life. He lived a very full and active life, never letting anything slow him down for long.
He will be missed by so many people in both MI and MT, as well as across the country.
Don passed away in the early morning, Tuesday September 8, 2020 at Sidney Health Center.
Don is survived by; his wife, Deanna; his sons, Bruce, Orin (Tammy), Bert (Denise), and Jeff (Marcia) Stambaugh; his seven grandchildren; and his brothers, Gary (Sharon), and Gene (Judy) Stambaugh.
Don is preceded in death by; his parents, his brother Bryce Stambaugh, his sister Grace (Lowe) Peter, and his godson Patrick McGee.

Deanna and family, I can only bring sadness for you on losing your cherished Husband and children's Father.
I wish Of course Rusty and I could be with you and
your children. We have very fond memories of Don.
What a wonderful friendly and spirited person. The first time we met it seemed like we knew him forever. I will always remember thinking of him as the energizer bunny! I hope Jesus has work for him or he is not going to be happy!!! God Bless you and your children and we will talk soon!!
Love You, Elly and Rusty

Deanna, Bruce, Orin, Bert, and Jeff----Our hearts are broken today as we learned of the passing of Don! Please accept our condolences and prayers for you all as you walk through this time of loss. Please allow me to expound for a minute---I first knew and worked with Don, as most of you know, when I went to work for Dual Drilling in 1980. I also worked with Orin, Bert, and some with Jeff through the years of oilfield work there around Sidney. I have NEVER worked with or for a more fabulous family! You all became family to me! Don was an a man that I looked up to. He was THE man that I most cared to emulate through my life. He was a man that was the BEST boss that anyone would ever have! He never asked anyone to do anything that he wouldn't do himself. He was not loud and demeaning to his crews----he was a teacher!! I learned more about managing people and about learning about the oilfield than I could have ever learned from anyone else! He was a dear friend, also! Always someone that I looked up to! Thank you all for sharing him with us---and SO many others! Love and miss you all. If any of you are ever out toward Billings, MT, please look me up in the Big Timber, MT phone book or call me @ 406-930-0750. Blessings to you all, and our prayers for every one!
Love---Ken and Becky Rockeman

Our family got to know Don & Deana 36 years ago September 15 the day after Cassandra was born they became instant sergant grandparents to our kids, as they moved next door to us!
Don was the kindness man ever known! Kin gentle words to his love of gardening and kids
Don never mixed words, he loved his country and working! Never a bad word, nor complained about anything! He is already missed by many. Our prayers weigh heavy for Deanna and the family.
