LaVerne Arnold Ramberg, 81, of Tioga passed away Tuesday, September 29th at the Tioga Long Term Care Unit.

Besides farming and ranching, LaVerne also worked for KBM Well Service, Lawrence Transportation, he owned/operated his semi working for Greytech and Harris road construction. He would haul almost anything as well but favored hauling cattle. That was a good excuse to stop in at the Sitting Bull Auction café!

LaVerne met Donna Brodahl through many Sons of Norway activities. After dating for a couple of years they joined in a religious partnership in March 2004, making their home in Tioga. In late 2015 health concerns brought LaVerne to reside in the Tioga Long Term Care Unit.

LaVerne was an avid card player. He enjoyed music and dancing as well. There tended to be some singing along involved too! Some of his favorite past times were Norsk Hostfest and the Frozen Finger Festival. He was a proud member of Trinity Lutheran Church, White Earth Valley Saddle Club, Sons of Norway, Tioga Senior Center and The Moose.

LaVerne is survived by his children, Lorne Ramberg, Barry (Melissa) Ramberg of Tioga, ND, Anita (Scott) Pease of Burlington, ND; grandchildren, Amanda (Shawn) Martin of Williston, ND, Stephanie (Kyle) Ramberg, Grace Ramberg, Trey (Madison) Ramberg all of Tioga, ND, Kayla (Jace) Lalim of White Earth, ND, Brianne (Richard) Welsch of Watauga, SD, Scotti Pease, Grayson Pease and Sadie Pease all of Burlington, ND; great-grandchildren, Braylon and Remi McIntyre of Tioga, ND, Weston, Marli and Bobbi Lalim of White Earth, ND, Kacie, Morgan and Holden Welsch of Watauga, SD; sister LaVonne (Leon) Wedar of Minot, ND; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

I met LaVerne when he was a patient at Trinity Rehab in Minot. I was a physical therapist assistant that worked with him. For therapy one day, I brought in Norwegian dance music .... and we danced! Cowboy boots on, hand in hand, we danced a couple of Norwegian dances. I believe one was the "Rugen". Know that some of my favorite memories of doing physical therapy involved LaVerne. I hope he is dancing in heaven and that one day I will have another chance to dance with him. Keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers at this time.

Lots of fun memories with LaVerne. Deer hunting was always a favorite time of year when lots of the neighbors would get together for the annual event.

Barry, sorry to hear of your father's passing. My sincere condolences. I remember your dad LaVerne would come into Sheldon Welding often when I worked there in my teenage years. He was a good man, and will be missed.
