Dennis "Ocean" Lake, 64, of Williston, ND passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at his residence in Williston, ND.

Dennis Earl Lake was born on March 13, 1957 in Great Falls, MT to Janice (Lowe) and Marlin Lake. In 1970 Janice remarried to an influential stepfather James Anderson. Dennis lived in Montana until moving to Williston, ND in 1968 where he later graduated from Williston High School in 1975. Dennis also graduated from Thief River Falls Tech Institute (MN) with a degree in sales and marketing management in 1988.

After a life-threatening car accident, Dennis changed his life and began his journey of sobriety on February 29th, 1984. He was an active participant at AA where he enjoyed bringing his family to meetings throughout the years and celebrating milestones. He accomplished 37 years sobriety and helped many people along the way.

During the time Dennis spent in Thief River Falls, he met Ethel Jones and they had a daughter, Erin. He later moved back to Williston where he met and married Angela Siring and had two more daughters, Krystal & LaRissa.

Throughout his years, Dennis worked in various occupations such as a tailor, within the oil & gas industry, and a beekeeper before he became a Job Coach. He worked for Opportunity Foundation before transferring to Northwest Human Services assisting disabled adults and supporting their independent employment. After 20 years, he decided to retire in 2018 where he enjoyed his time in the home he loved.

Dennis enjoyed watching NFL and other tv programs, going out to eat, riding his Harley, studying science, playing cards, and most importantly spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Dennis is survived by his mother, Janice Anderson of Bismarck, ND; three daughters, Erin (Brandon) Halvorson of Erskine, MN, Krystal (Damian) Anderson of Minot, ND and LaRissa Lake (Timothy) of Williston, ND; sisters, DiAnn (Karl) Merk and Sheila (Joe) Hughes both of Williston, ND; brother, Kenneth (Kathy) Lake of Bismarck, ND; grandchildren, Kyleigh, Tayla, Carson, Maddox, Hayden, Nilsa; niece Jamie; nephew Cody; and cousins.

Dennis left his loved ones on earth to reunite with loved ones who have passed; maternal and paternal grandparents; father, Marlin Lake; stepfather, James Anderson; aunt, LaVonne Nelson; uncle, Leland Lowe; cousin, Kim Lawrence and niece, Katie Hughes.

I am so sorry to learn of his passing - such a nice guy. I got to visit with him or greet one another many times while he worked at NW Human Services. He had such a calm presence and a nice smile and sense of humor. Thinking of the family as they mourn his loss.

I have fond memories of Dennis as one of the kindest people I have ever known. From grade school, through high school, and into adulthood whenever I came upon Dennis I saw smiles and always shared Hellos and well wishes. I am so very sorry for your loss, too soon for such a young heart. My sincere condolences to all his family and close friends.
