Janice Darlene Williams
January 9, 1935 - September 23, 2021

Place of Birth: Belfield, ND
Residence: Sidney, MT
Age: 86

Janice Darlene (Fong) Williams was born January 9, 1935 to Einar and Zella Mae (Connell) Fong in Medora ND. She was the third of seven children born to Einar and Zella.
She attended school in Belfield ND and graduated in 1952. While in high school she was a cheerleader and a member of Glee club for 4 years. Janice also worked on the school newspaper, the Purple Sage, and was a member of the yearbook staff. She was also very active in a variety of art projects while in high school. Anyone who knew Janice knows she was an excellent artist working with several different mediums.
Due to the shortage of teachers, Janice was able to get a teaching certification shortly after she graduated from high school. She then taught school in a one room schoolhouse in rural North Dakota for a year.
After teaching, Janice went to work for Deister, Ward and Witcher Oil Abstractors as a typist where she met James Estel Williams. They were married April 26, 1957 at the Congregational Church in Plentywood, MT. As newlyweds, they both continued to work for Deister Ward and Witcher until Janice had their son, Jay, in 1963.
After Jay was born Janice took some time off to be a full time mother. As Jay grew she would work part time. When Jim and partners purchased the Security Abstract Company in Sidney, MT Janice helped with that business. Janice, Jim and Jay moved to Sidney Montana in 1969. Sidney would become home for the family.
Janice and Jim had a good life together. They spent time with family, golfed, played tennis and were active in the community. Janice liked to bake and do crafts for the different organizations in the community to help with fundraising and her baked goods were always in demand! She was a great cook in general!
After Jay went to college Janice and Jim took the opportunity to travel. They would often vacation in Mexico, Palm Springs, California and Hawaii. Janice also traveled to Sweden with her sister Ruth to visit relatives on her father's side of the family. A good time was had by all!
Janice died September 23, 2021 at the Sidney Health Center. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim and 3 siblings, Gene Fong, Bonny Howard and Cherilyn Sorum. She is survived by her sisters Ruth Hickey, Great Falls, MT and Greta Nelson, Bismarck, ND, brother Terry (Dixie) Fong, son Jay (Rhona) Williams, grandchildren Kelsey (Nick) Stiles, Missoula, MT, Parker Williams, Newport, RI, great granddaughter McKenna Stiles and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews
