Maggie D. Halvorson, 55 of New Town, ND passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at the Trinity Health Hospital in Minot, ND. Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home of Watford City is assisting the family.

Maggie D. Young Bird “Mama G” was born on July 16, 1966 in Watford City, ND to Patricia Good Bird and Henry Young Bird, Sr. She left this earthly life on February 15, 2022 in a Minot Hospital surrounded by her family. She was a member of the Water Buster Clan.

Maggie was raised in the mandaree area. She was the youngest of 9 kids. She attended school at Mandaree Public School. She enjoyed riding her horse named “king” bareback and barrel racing in her younger years.

Maggie always held various jobs throughout her life starting at a young age; her last employment was with the Three Affiliated Tribes as a Mailroom Clerk/PBX Operator where she worked for many years. Maggie worked until her health started to decline and then she decided to stay home and take care of mama and take her to all her appointments.
Maggie met and married Ervin Halvorson, Sr. on October 29, 1986 and to this union 5 children were born; Tyrell, Ervin Jr., Justin, Valene and Daniel. She also had a hand in raising Mercedes Halvorson whom she took as her own and nicknamed her “Baby Duct Tape”. She was her pride and joy and loved spoiling her.

She enjoyed traveling to MN and loved driving down Franklin Avenue. She loved spending all of her time with her kids and family. She enjoyed family gatherings. Maggie had a heart of gold. She was always willing to help those in need. She took in all of her nieces and nephews and cared for them as her own. Her home was never empty or you never left hungry. And she sure loved to joke and tease with everyone. Maggie’s favorite band was Ree Ride, she enjoyed going to the casino and listening to them.
Maggie loved family and loved hard. We will miss our “Mama G”.

She is survived by her children, Tyrell Halvorson, Ervin (Renay) Halvorson, Jr., Justin Halvorson, Daniel “Stewy” Halvorson, Valene Halvorson, Mercedes Halvorson and ShiAnn (Chris) Young Bird-all of New Town, ND; Sisters, Glenda Good Bird, Lujuanna Young bird, Valerie (Tony) Halvorson-all of New Town, ND and Florene (Julius) Halvorson-Mandaree, ND; Brothers, Bruce Young Bird and Henry (Leah) Young Bird, Jr.-both of New Town, ND and Farley Young Bird-Mandaree, ND. Also her special nieces, nephews and grandkids whom she loved; Ginger, Amber, Heather, Tamara, Toniky, Angela, Tyrone, Henry, Garrett, Douglas, Ryan, JC, SkyRose, Oaklynn, Sunshine, Brooklynn and Gracie.
