Place of Birth: Dickenson, ND

Age: 86

Joseph ”Joe” Leroy Grossman, age 86, passed away at home from natural causes, Saturday July 2nd, 2022.

Joe was born May 13, 1936 to Joseph and Ann Kraiter Grossman in Dickinson, North Dakota. Joe attended St. Joseph’s grade school and Dickinson High School, also the state school of science in Wahpeton North Dakota with a degree in printing technology. Joe was employed by the Dickinson Press, The Williston Daily Herald and the Sidney Press in Sidney, Montana. He was a member of the North Dakota National Guard, Dickinson Branch.

While in Williston, Joe met the “love of his life” Gloria Klevenberg, who was an elementary teacher. They were married and began their life together on June 6, 1959 at St. James Catholic Church in Powers Lake, North Dakota. Joe and Gloria have just recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. They made their first home in Sidney, Montana, where Joe continued to work for the Sidney Herald.

In 1963, Joe and Gloria moved to Dickinson, North Dakota where Joe worked in sales with his dad at the Grossman International Dealership, selling trucks, Scouts, and American Motor Cars. Gloria continued to teach school in Dickinson also.

After the passing of his parents, the International Dealership was sold, and Joe branched out to find a business of his own. He purchased a building in Tioga, North Dakota and opened an appliance, furniture, and TV business.

After 20 years in this business, Joe decided to sell this business and retire. Gloria retired from teaching also. They decided to travel and spent 14 years wintering in Arizona. They have taken several interesting bus tours through the US and Canada. They have enjoyed spending free time visiting family and friends. Christmas has always been a favorite family holiday.

Joe and Gloria are members of the St. Thomas church in Tioga, The Tioga Sons of Norway Lodge, and several committees in the City of Tioga.

Joe’s favorite pastimes were the many outings with his sons, hunting and fishing and snowmobiling in Montana with family. His most recent joy was his last fishing trip with his son Jim on Father’s Day, June 19, 2022. Joe will always be remembered for his hearty laugh, his many projects, and most of all spending time with friends and family playing cards or out dancing.

Joe leaves behind his loving wife, Gloria and their 63 years of marriage, four loving children, Rhonda, Bryan, Tammy (Hines) and Jim. Five grandchildren, DeAnna Moser (Rhonda), James and Michael Grossman (Bryan) Jayden and Josyie Hines (Tammy) one Great Grandchild, Trevin Moser (DeAnna)

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Brother Pete, and two sisters Alvina and Anna Mae.

Gloria and family, I am SO sorry to hear of Joe's passing. I will always remember his kindness at the furniture store when I worked there, and the time you both stopped by to see my mom in our hospital and took time to visit with us. You were always a delight to meet up with in town, and I know this must be so difficult for you. GOD BLESS and my most sincere condolences to you all.
