Cody Duane Knels
October 18, 1989 - April 29, 2023

Place of Birth: Williston, North Dakota
Residence: Sidney, Montana
Age: 33

Cody Duane Knels was born October 18th, 1989 to Donald Raymond Knels and Debbie Lynn Swenson in Williston, ND. He lived in the country north of Fairview until 1992 when his parents separated. Cody’s mom remarried in 1994 where the family moved to Rochester, WA. Cody loved to ride his bike and be outdoors. Anything to keep him active he was doing it. It was hard to get him to ever slow down, even for a few minutes. He was always on the go!

In 1997 the family purchased a home four and half miles NE of Fairview. In the summer Cody enjoyed having friends over to play and ride bikes, and he was always on the go. He loved his siblings so much. He loved to tease his older siblings Justin and Krista. Kyle, his little brother was always his favorite.

When his first niece, Emily, came along he was over the moon. Seven years later his second niece Kaylee was born. He was now Uncle Cody times two! As the years went on and the girls grew taller he would just smile so big because he couldn’t tell them apart.

So many happy times! Cody’s laugh was so infectious. It was a one of a kind laugh for sure. He sure loved his Pepsi, beef jerky and scary movies.

In 1998 Cody was in a car accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury and the Doctors said he would never walk, talk or eat again, you name it. Cody sure proved them all wrong.

Cody our buddy, you are the strongest man we ever knew. Fly with the Angels our boy!

Cody is survived by his Dad Donald Knels, Mom Debbie Lawhead, Stepdad Curtis Lawhead, Sister Krista Knels, brothers Kyle and Jade Lawhead, brother Hunter Knels, nieces Emily and Kaylee Johnson, Grandpa Larry Knels and Grandmother Pat Knels and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his older brother Justin Rang, grandparents Jeanie and Jerry Swenson, great grandmother June Olson, grandmother Diane Knels, grandparents Loren and Janice Lawhead and uncle John( Uncle Buck) Knels.

Cody was a very funny loving man and will be missed by many. I had the opportunity to work with Cody. He put smiles on everyone faces a good joker and would come up with wild stories to tell me.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Cody’s smile was so infectious, lighting up ANY room he was in. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree when it came to sweet talking the ladies and keepin’ em laughing with his silly antics. I was blessed to have crossed paths with Cody and I know he will be missed by myself and anyone who ever had the opportunity and pleasure of spending even only a few minutes by his side. Rest in Paradise, Cody. Until we meet again.

Cody, you were such a force. They said from day one after the accident what you wouldn’t be able to do…but you showed them and you did it all. Nothing kept you down. Your smile, that laugh…you always lit up the room. You fought a long hard battle…you can now rest young man. You will be greatly missed by so many n i know You are up there in heaven reunited with Justin and probably constantly pestering him lol as you join him and watch over all of us. I'm so sorry Cody is no longer with us. He was so tough, but really so funny. My lil buddy (who was way taller than me eventually) and my best buddy are up in Heaven having a blast. What a beautiful reunion it must be.
I pray for comfort and healing for those Cody left behind.
