Marjorie Jean (Thurlow) Geatz, passed away on March 17, 2025 in Tioga, ND at her daughter Natalie and son-in-law, Curtis’ home, surrounded by family and friends. Marge had been diagnosed with cancer in August of 2023 and received treatment. However, the cancer returned, with a vengeance, in December of 2024.
Marjorie was born September 4, 1938 in Kensal, ND to Wayne and Velma Thurlow. Marge grew up on a farm with her parents and sister, Carol, outside of Gardner, ND. Marge was an outstanding HS basketball player and made it to the State tournament 3 times where the team would become State Champions!
Marge was united in marriage to William (Bill) Geatz, November 5, 1961. They raised four children, 3 sons and a daughter. They lived in various places while Bill was in the Navy and throughout their life, before settling in Fargo, ND. Marge worked as a nurse in several clinics and hospitals before retiring in 2001. Everyone loved working with Marge. She was an exceptional nurse and made numerous friends and she loved all her co-workers she met throughout her nursing career.
Marge is survived by her husband, Bill; her four children, David (Pam) Geatz of Bluffton, SC, Michael Geatz of San Diego CA/Zambia South Africa, Natalie (Curtis) Bugbee of Tioga, ND and Paul (Cynthia) Geatz of Pine River, MN; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; nephews, Kevin (Phyllis) McDonald of Loveland CO and Kermit McDonald of Mountain Home, Arkansas and their families.
Marge is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved sister, Carol McDonald and her husband Don McDonald; her sister-in-law, Karen Dokken, brother-in-law, Elmer Dokken; and brother-in-law, Alan Geatz.
