Alice Josephine was born August 13, 1929 on the family farmstead in Fredrick Township, Divide County to Otto and Mabel (Lerbakken) Vicha. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith at Corinth Zion Church. She attended Liberty Country School through the eighth grade and graduated from Alamo High School.

She was united in marriage to the love of her life Earl Swenson on October 11, 1953 at McGregor Lutheran Church. They moved to the Swenson farm where they spent 13 years. She was Earl’s helper, driving truck, running the combine, plus many other tasks. From this marriage they were blessed with three daughters.

In 1968 Earl decided to sell insurance so they moved to Tioga. After their girls graduated high school Alice decided to get a job, she worked at Earls insurance office, Dakota Trends, and Tioga Drug.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Rebeka Lodge, McGregor Twirlers, Tioga Senior’s, ELCU, and McGregor Bowling League.

She loved to travel, play bridge and other card games with her friends, gardening, canning, and baking with family. Together, Earl and Alice took many trips- cruises, skiing, camping, including to several countries.

Sincere condolences to Alice's family. Jo and I were saddened to hear of Alice's passing. Her and Earl were fabulous neighbors on Willard Blvd for 32 years. She was always so gracious and kind and always laughed at a corny joke. She had a great outlook on life and loved her family totally. What a great lady she was. RIP Alice. You will be greatly missed.
