It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
William "Bill" Norby
January 1, 1975 - July 22, 2025

Place of Birth: Hettinger, North Dakota
Residence: Minot, North Dakota formerly of Culbertson, Montana
Age: 50

William Allan Norby, 50 of Minot, ND, passed away July 22, 2025, at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND.

Bill was born January 1, 1975, to Marsha (Becker) Foss and Allan J Norby in Hettinger, ND where he lived until first grade. His family moved to Sidney, MT until his parents divorced. Bill and his sister, Christina (Christy) (Norby) Kleinwaechter, moved back to Hettinger living with his maternal grandmother, Edna Becker until his dad Allan Norby moved back to Hettinger, then living with his dad, stepmom Sharon Norby, and sister.

When Bill turned 13 years old, he moved to MT and lived with his mom, Marsha Foss and stepdad, Gene Foss until graduating from Culbertson High School in 1994. He then moved to Hill City, SD room mating with his cousin Robert Saunders. If there were shenanigans going on Bill & Robert were front and center. While in Hill City he worked at Rushmore Cave, and the Corner Store. Later, he moved to Dickinson, ND working in the bar and restaurant industry. While in Dickinson, he welcomed his son Chase Kilzer into the world. His son was his pride and joy; he would have given him the moon if he could have.

Bill later moved to Minot, ND where he met the love of his life Sharon (Hennessy) Hodge. In Minot he pursued his love of ink, becoming a tattoo artist. He opened his own tattoo business “Lizard Designs.” Bill was a very gifted artist creating many of his own design that attracted clients from many states including Canada. He was featured on the front page of the Minot Daily News for his accomplishments - working with the State Health Department to develop safety standards of practice for tattoo businesses. Bill was most proud of being awarded “Best New Tattoo Artist” at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in SD the first year he tattooed there.

He knew his way around the kitchen & loved cooking on the grill, often entering and winning barbeque, deer sausage, and chili cookoffs. He enjoyed cooking for family and friends the most. Bill loved all animals and reptiles. He had a love of the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Bill is not arriving in Heaven in a well-preserved body; he worked hard when he could but always played harder. Bill will be sadly missed by all who had the honor of loving and knowing him.

Survived and missed greatly by soul mate, Sharon (Hennessy) Hodge, Minot, ND; stepmom, Sharon Norby, Red Lodge MT; son, Chase Kilzer, Dickinson, ND; sister, Christy (Mark) Kleinwaechter, Dickinson, ND; niece, Kourtney (Byren) Tobar and nephew, Jacob Kleinwaechter, of Dickinson, ND; stepsiblings, Michelle Foss, Sidney, MT, and Russell (Paula) Foss, Medina, OH; Sharon H’s daughter Chelsea Hennessy, Lawrenceville GA; aunts Brenda (Arden) Saunders, Rapid City, SD, and Pam (Kelly) Wolf, Bettendorf, IA; cousins, Robert (Brooke) Saunders, Rapid City, SD, Brock (Kerla) Wolf, Braircliff Manor, NY, and Jennifer (Wolf) (Chris) Cobb, Benttendorf, IA; great-uncle Billy Powell, Mott, ND; and many second cousins, step-aunts, uncles & cousins, cherished friends, clients, & beloved pets.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allan J Norby and Marsha Foss; Stepdad Gene Foss; maternal grandparents Bob and Edna Becker; paternal grandparents Kenneth and Alice Norby; and step-grandma Doris Norby.

“And now, I'm glad I didn't know, the way it all would end, the way it all would go. Our lives are better left to chance, I could've missed the pain, But I'd had to miss the dance.”
- The Dance by Garth Brooks

Uncle Bill,
Thank you for always being a light and an inspiration. Your talent at art was next to none. Thank you for your love and care when Maj died and getting me my Harley ride after I buried him.
Your love for my auntie was everything relationships should be.
Thank you for all the laughs and amazing hugs. You were fabulous with all of my kiddos. You never let me doubt my abilities to stand tall and persevere.
We love you and miss you. Fly high and watch over Sharon.
Eagles wings until next time.

I never got to spend much time with Bill, but when I did get the chance he was always a kind, caring, and funny person. He definitely could light up a room with his jokes and personality. We love you Bill, rest in paradise.

Bill was such a good person and loved my sister and niece with everything he had. We bonded over stories about my dad, who loved him like a son. His spirit will live on through the people who knew him best. He will be missed

Bill was a great man and could always make anyone laugh and smile. Even if you were in a bad mood he could change that around fast. He had so much love for Sharon. Gonna miss you man and our lunches together in Minot. Sharon you know I love you like an OLDER sister! And that I’m always here for you.
