Kenneth was born on June 26, 1945 to Louis and Lillian (Veysey) Kummer. His early school was in a country school. Kenny was raised on the family farm. He worked for area farmers until entering the oilfield.


In 1965 Kenny entered the U.S. Army, he was honorably discharged in 1967. He was very proud of his service time. He returned to the oilfield and worked both workover rigs and drilling rigs.

In September of 1970 a son, Kenneth Cameron was born; in June of 1973 a daughter, Mona Ray joined the family. In September of 1995 a granddaughter Tori Lynn was born.

In October of 1983 he married Kathy Benson.

Kenny enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and playing cards and dice games.

Kenny passed away on November 29, 2025 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Kenneth (KC); daughter, Mona; granddaughter, Tori, Elizabeth, Gracie, Emily and Brittany; great-granddaughters, Olivia, Naelaih and Alannah; sisters, Lorrain Walton of Lovington, NM, Gladys (James) Greggory of Midland, TX, Shirley (Robert) Lovass of Watford City, ND, Loretta Anderson of Watford City, ND, Linda (Jerry) Wilson of Tacoma, WA, Debbie (Randy) Running of Mesquite, NV, Donna (Kelly) Berg of Valdosta, GA; sisters-in-law, Betty Kummer and LaVeta Kummer of Watford City, ND, Darla Zimny of Burlington, ND; brother-in-law, Kenneth Benson of Lansford, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kenny was preceded in death by grandson, Jonathan; parents; sisters, Fern and Cindy; brothers, Jerome, Clayton, David, Douglas, Mike, Stanley, and Miles.
