Residence: Tioga, ND

Dane Paul “Dagger” Martinson, of Tioga, North Dakota passed away on December 8, 2025 in his hometown at the age of 63.

Born on October 29, 1962 in Tioga, Dane spent his life rooted in the community that shaped him. Known affectionately by many as “Dagger”. He brought energy and laughter wherever he went, his vibrant personality made him the life of the party, and he had a rare gift for lifting spirits. His smile and humor could brighten even the darkest day.

Dane found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid bowler where his competitive spirit in good natured banter made every game memorable. Hunting held a special place in his heart. It connected him to nature and tradition in a way that grounded him deeply. Golf was another favorite pastime, whether chasing birdies or simply enjoying the camaraderie of friends.

He is lovingly remembered by his children, Drew (Grace) Martinson and Laken Martinson; his brothers, Drew (Tami) Martinson and Dorn Martinson; and his mother, Elaine Martinson.

Dane was preceded in death by his father, Delford Martinson.

Dane was a great guy and will be missed by so many. I got to know him through him bowling with my husband in Williston. He had a contagious smile and was just a genuine good guy. So sad to hear of his passing. Thinking of his family

Dane was a remarkable man, I was lucky enough to be the one that put an end to his life longer bachelorhood of 37 years & we spent 12 years together, even through our darkest times we always came together and stayed good friends. He was a wonderful father, he loved Drew & Laken more than anything in the world & taught them all the skills of his favorite activities.
He was the such a social butterfly, spending every Wednesday night either bowling or golfing. He could fly across the country and still have someone call out his name & have to catch up with him.
He loved deer hunting, and despite my nagging he still spent every day of the season scouting for the perfect buck & waiting for the last day at sundown to get it.
I am honored to have been a part of his life for so many years & sharing two wonderful kids together.
He will be missed by so many & remembered by all. His spirit & personality lives on in Laken, who is just like her dad, and could always crack him up & bring a huge smile to his face.
Til we meet again Dane Paul.
Love,
Michelle

Dane was a great guy with a charismatic personality- I had a lot of great times in Tioga with Dane watching Vikings games and hanging out with him and all his buddies and had a blast when Dane and a couple of us went to a Vikings game. He was just a fun genuine guy to hang around with and will be missed by many. Your all in our thoughts and prayers.

Dane and I served on the North Dakota State Bowling Association (ND USBC) together for six years. The Association expresses our sincere condolences to Dane's family and friends.

Dane had many bowling accomplishments and was a great and accomplished competitor. I bowled both with and against Dane for many many years. Dane will be missed at tournaments and Association meeting.

Dane was a kind man. He was also very gracious individual. Rest in peace my friend!
