Laura Lyn Potter was born on November 10,1958, in Chico, California to Laniel and Marilyn Potter. When Laura was one, her mother and Laura moved home to Fairview, Montana where they lived with Marilyn's parents and family who helped raise her. She had many fun adventures growing up on the family farm. From the time she was little she loved animals, especially dogs. She attended Fairview schools until Marilyn and Laura moved to Sidney in the 70's where she graduated from Sidney High School. In 1975 she gained three stepsisters when her mother married Walter Lorenz -Debra, Diana, and Teresa. She attended college at Mt. Mary College in Yankton, South Dakota in 1979-1980 and also some at Eastern Montana College in 1980.

Laura worked with seismograph crews, as a ward clerk at Sidney Health Center, at Fairview Mini Mart, and then at IGA for many years where she was well respected by fellow staff and the public. She was proud to purchase her grandparents' home in Sidney with whom she had a special bond. She met her boyfriend Robert Braae while working at IGA as he was employed there also. She retired in 2016 and in 2017 they started traveling in a motor home visiting Minnesota, South Dakota, Washington, Oregon, California, Texas, and Arizona. She loved her traveling days, seeing new areas of the country and meeting Robert's children and grandchildren especially the twins. The past two years they were snowbirds in Cottonwood, AZ.

In 2023, Laura was diagnosed with lung cancer and underwent radiation treatment. In August 2025, the cancer returned and she was having chemo treatments at Sidney Health Center. She died on December 25, 2025 at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck, ND of multiple organ failure.

Laura is survived by her immediate family, Aunt Ruth Reidle, Uncle Ralph & Lyn Ludington, Cousins and their families-Brian Thomas, Douglas Reidle, David Reidle, Jeff Ludington, Joel Ludington, and Jan Lavallee. She is also survived by her boyfriend, Robert Braae and their three dogs.

Laura loved her family and friends well and will be remembered for her kind and generous heart.

I worked with Laura at the hospital when she worked there as a Ward Clerk and it was an honor to work with her. She was always so kind and smart and witty. I appreciated her as a great co-worker. She will be greatly missed !

I first met Laura when we worked at the Fairview Mini Mart. She was always so very sweet and kind. Later, I saw her when she worked at IGA--we'd always great each other with a 'Hi--what have you been up to?'--She will be missed!!

To the family of Laura, I am so sorry for your loss, Laura was one of my favorite people to ever work with, always there when I needed her to cover an extra shift or help out where ever she was needed. I hope she knows how loved she really was, she was one of a kind. Rest in peace my friend.
