Place of Birth: Fairplay, Colorado
Residence: Williston, North Dakota
Age: 43

Gina Lynn Mottl, 43, living in Williston, North Dakota, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 28, 2026 after her strong fight with cancer. She passed away at the Sidney Health Center in Sidney, MT with her family by her side.

Gina was born on March 14, 1982 in Fairplay, Colorado. She and her family lived in Bailey Colorado through her school age years, attending and graduating from Platte Canyon High School, the same school her mother and 10 other family members graduated from. After graduating, Gina got her dream internship with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM,) where she lived in a tiny RV in a campground and worked in Craig Colorado on BLM land. After her internship she and her husband Tom Mottl, moved to Williston, North Dakota, where she started her job with the wastewater plant, and working her way up to superintendent, where she stayed for 9 years.

Gina and Tom met in Idaho Spring Colorado, the summer of 2006. They married in Morrison Colorado the spring of 2011 and moved to Williston North Dakota to start their life in 2012. Shortly after moving, they had their first son Waylen Mottl, 12, then Grant Mottl, 8.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Mottll; children, Waylen and Grant Mottl: mother, Tammy Comb; sister, Dellynn Combs; niece, Madison DeLisle.

Gina was preceded by her father, Bruce Combs.

Sweet Gina. I just can’t believe you’re gone. Absent from the body is to be present with Christ. I am confident of and take comfort in knowing that you are now in the sweet presence of Jesus. Your last spoken words to me were, “I’ll see you later.” So until we see each other again, friend, rest in peace. My deepest sympathies and prayers for the family, as you all navigate the journey ahead.

Sweet Gina,
From the days our boys met playing in the dirt at the saddle club, you became a part of our village. You showed up, and you loved us well.
Your faith was big and bold, and you lived it out every day. I will always be grateful God put you in our life when he did. Thank you for loving my boys and for always rooting for me. You are already deeply missed. Until we meet again, Love you! My heartfelt condolences to the family. Sending hugs and lots of prayers.

During my first summer with the City, I spent a lot of time at the plant with Gina. As an intern drowning in constant unfamiliarity, she felt like a life preserver. She was welcoming, supportive, and uplifting. I didn't see her as often over the years, but whenever I did, she would make time to catch up with me.

During my last day at the City, I happened to run into Gina. What sticks out in my head was that she was still so vocally supportive and intentional with her encouragement.

While we haven't kept in touch, a huge portion of my life feels bookended by this positive example that Gina set. She was such a genuinely good person. We would all do better to be more like Gina.

I'm praying for comfort for her family and friends. I'm so sorry for your loss.

How do you say good bye to someone who has been there for so long? I’m finding it difficult to put into words how much I’m going to miss you. From you getting hired at the city to the births of your boys every step you made since you moved here. I got the honor of being part of. You are a great friend and my heart hurts because of the emptiness. You are with God now and that gives me comfort. You will always be in my heart.

So sad to see this posting of your passing. Gina we didn't get to know each other well but from the first time we met at cards, your smile brightened my mood. Your caring heart will surely be missed in our community. Prayers to your family and friends during this time. May our Lord comfort and bless them with peace.

My sweet Gina Beana: what a breath of fresh air you were to this world! I have so many memories of our days together in Bailey, Co and then in Richardson Texas! I loved you then and I will love you always! You were such a fun , loving person. Travis loved you as we all did! I need to go through my many photos and post some of them! This morning, while I was praying, a funny memory popped up in my mind; you driving away from my. Apt in Texas and you forgot your laundry basket (you used as a suitcase??) was on top of your car and you pulled out of the parking lot with your clothes flying everywhere! I think I just happened to look out on my balcony to see your clothes flying! I want to send some of the pictures I have of you, and the Bailey friends! Your beautiful spirit has left this world, but I know that Travis Lake was there when you passed on to heaven! Down here we cry and miss you! Please fly high with Bubba!
Until we meet again: you are forever loved here on Earth! I loved you then and always will!
