Clayton Jasper Macklin
September 7, 2006 - August 29, 2026

Place of Birth: Cañon City, Colorado
Residence: Watford City, North Dakota
Age: 19

Clayton Jasper Macklin, 19, was born on September 7th, 2006, in Cañon City, Colorado. He lived in Colorado until the age of 7, when his family relocated to Watford City, North Dakota, in 2014. Clayton is the cherished son of Cary and Teresa and beloved sibling to Hallie.

Clayton graduated from Watford City High School in 2025. In high school, he was active in the school's FFA chapter and remained involved in the alumni group. One of his favorite FFA memories was going to the national convention in Indianapolis with his mom in 2023.

Clayton had just started a new job that he was so excited about. Clayton was a unique soul who could talk about anything. One of the things he loved most in life was his family. Clayton became an uncle on January 23rd, 2026, and holding his nephew for the first time was one of his proudest moments. Clayton loved video games, especially Call of Duty and Halo. Some of his most beloved memories include shooting his first doe with his dad, experimenting in the kitchen, and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings. He loved hanging out with his friends, but he also loved going to his room to relax and be Clayton.

Clayton had a smile and personality that would light up a room. You knew that he was near when you heard his infectious laugh nearby. He was the type of person who always strived to make you laugh. He became active in the local RC club and was always so excited to show you his newest car or talk about the next race.

Clayton unexpectedly passed away on August 29th, 2026. Though Clayton's time with us was far too short, his warmth, kindness, and unforgettable laugh left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.

Clayton is survived by his parents, Cary and Teresa Macklin; his sister, Hallie (Lane) Christensen; his nephew, Callahan; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, his paternal grandfather, and his great-aunt, with whom he had a special bond.
