It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Amy Marie Fugate
February 8, 1975 - November 25, 2023

Place of Birth: Helena, MT
Residence: Fairview, Montana
Age: 48

Amy Marie Fugate, beloved wife, mother, sister, family, and friend- who was once our angel on Earth, has now risen to be our angel in Heaven as of November 25, 2023.

She was born on February 8, 1975, alongside her twin brother Travis Haugen in Helena, MT to their mother Joyce Taylor (Haugen) and Jeff Haugen. They moved to Sidney in October 1986 and began a life there where both Amy and Travis attended Sidney Public Schools. Amy enjoyed being with her friends, playing volleyball, and all her animals growing up. She also loved her time spent in Central Montana on the Taylor farm and ranch where her mother Joyce grew up- and was able to spend time with her Grandma Emily, uncles, and cousins.

Amy soon found a guy that could handle her fierce, yet awesome love for life- Lloyd Fugate, and they married on August 22, 1995. They bought a home in Fairview, MT where they began to grow their beautiful family, with son Donald (10/26/1996) and a few years later, a daughter, Justina (3/28/1999). Donald and Justina were her pride and joy, giving them every opportunity to grow into the amazing adults they are now. Amy also had a powerful love for animals of all types, especially her many dogs and cats who were just as much family as anyone.

Amy’s presence was felt throughout her community, where she meant so much to so many. She loved hard, cared deeply, and will leave a deep hole in all of our hearts- but we know she is celebrating with her mother once again. We love you, Amy- “so much it hurts”.

Amy is survived by her husband Lloyd Fugate; children, Donald and Justina; brother Travis Haugen; mother-in-law, Carol Fugate; Uncles Robert (Betty), Donald (Pauline), and Ken (Leslie) Taylor; step sister April (David) Duffner; step brother Michael (Bobby Wolf) Peterman; many cousins, her special friend Mary Norgard; and also multiple ‘extra’ nieces, nephews, sons, and daughters all over her community.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Taylor (Haugen), biological father Wayne VanDerSande, Grandma and Grandpa Robert & Emily Taylor, Aunt Polly Taylor, Aunt Leslie Taylor, Cousin Nathan Taylor, and brother-in-law, Jimmy Fugate. (Also, her many pups that have crossed the rainbow bridge.)

Memorial Contribution
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in Amy’s name to: Relay for Life, Breast Cancer Awareness or Out of the Darkness for Suicide Prevention.

I worked with Amy at West Side when she used to sub. I always tried to make her take as many sub jobs as she could, just so I could hang out with her. I was instantly drawn to her fun and caring personality, and she quickly became my favorite work buddy. I am so sad to hear about her passing, I will miss seeing her at Reynolds and briefly catching up. She was definitely a one of a kind soul. Sending so much love to her friends and family.

Amy had a heart like no other, never met a stranger, never left anyone feeling alone or unnoticed. She would give you the shirt off her back if she had to without thinking twice. She lit up a room everywhere she was. This loss is a community loss because she had such a huge impact! RIP Amy

Lloyd and family, my heart breaks for you all. The moment I heard your very sad news, the vision of Amy entering our classroom as a new student at West Side came to mind. She was one of my first friends as I was new that year too and our moms drove station wagons lol Amy and I bumped into each other putting our carts away Wedn afternoon (Thanksgiving Eve). Was so good to see her smiley face. Will surely miss her. Praying for you all.

Oh how we harassed each other! She was quick witted and funny and usually chewing my butt for something. Especially if I was not her nurse. No matter what she was always laughing and smiling. Justina and Donald she was so very proud to be your Mom. Lloyd she was so happy your were hers and you got HER! May your memories bring you comfort and healing! Heal together. She would.expect that. Deepest sympathy. Prayers for all of you!

I am still in shock over the news of Amy's passing. Since I came back to town, she and I talked of getting together to catch up more than the few seconds when I'd see her at the store. She was one person who was always kind to me in high school and so much fun to be around. I saw her last Wednesday when I had to get my ingredients for my frog eye salad and they were out of cool whip. I was telling her that and she said she wouldn't be able to make hers then. I told her I was going to check the other store and asked if she wanted me to grab some for her since she had to close and she told me that I was only allowed to grab her one. I brought her two and when she asked what she owed I told her not to worry about it. Her smile was thank you enough. Your family continues to be in my thoughts and prayers.
